Make Giving Tuesday… A Family A-Fair!

This Giving Tuesday donate to support family health fairs in 2024

What is a family health fair?

A day when the Nueva Vida Clinic offers special services to get 300+ patients to come in – folks who might not otherwise seek health care. Patients not only get exams, diagnosis, and medicine that same day, but also follow-up appointments and referrals to ensure ongoing integral care. You can help!

Our Goal this Giving Tuesday is to raise 7,000 USD for health fairs in 2024

Who comes to a health fair?

  • 7 year-old Ashley’s lips turn blue when she plays with her friends. During a Family Health Fair; our doctors discovered she has a heart murmur and needs surgery. Our health promoters are following up to ensure she gets care.

  • 10 year-old Jerald’s tooth hurts. At a Family Health Fair, our dentist gave him two fillings, taught Jerald about dental hygiene, and gave him a toothbrush and floss to keep his teeth healthy.

  • 18 year-old Genesis wants to finish college. At a Family Health Fair, our nurse placed a birth control implant that will last three years, long enough for Genesis to graduate with her degree.

  • 32 year-old Tania hadn’t had a pap since her daughter was born. She came to see the gynecologist during a Family Health Fair and a pap showed cervical cancer in its early stages. She was referred into the public health care program where she is receiving timely treatment procedures.

  • 50 year-old Marcos has been trouble breathing when he walks more than a block. At a Family Health Fair, our doctor ordered an EKG, lab tests and an ultrasound of his heart. Marcos got all those tests in the Nueva Vida Clinic that day. The doctor diagnosed heart problems and prescribed medication that Marcos received from the clinic pharmacy.

  • 57 year-old Nelson has never had his teeth cleaned. He came to a Family Health Fair to see the doctor for his knees and decided to get his teeth cleaned by our dental hygienist while he waited. Nelson was given several follow-up appointments to clean difficult plaque and avoid gum disease.

  • 63 year-old Urania can’t thread her sewing needle. While she waited to see the doctor during a Family Health Fair, she got an eye exam and received a new pair of reading glasses.
